EduSynch launches training app for TOEFL®.
The platform is the first adaptive teaching app in the world for TOEFL®.
EduSynch, Startup Brasil-backed, officially announced the launch of its fully integrated Android and Web solution – the world’s first affordable, adaptive & comprehensive TOEFL® training platform. After running successful Alpha & Beta tests in 2015 with two Brazilian institutions, Fundação Estudar and PUC Paraná, EduSynch has created a solution that allows students to practice and be evaluated across all four English language skills – Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking – based on their individual strengths and weaknesses. This included personalized human evaluations for Speaking and Writing, by certified international BEC and TOEFL® evaluators, all on a smartphone, tablet, or computer.
TOEFL® test prep around the world is very expensive and digital resources are scarce, with most being created by non-native English speakers. As the most well-known and accepted English language proficiency exam in the world, the exam has become the gold standard for students looking to study abroad, get a better job (both locally and abroad), and showcase their language skills at a high academic level. The exam is recognized by more than 9.000 colleges, universities and agencies in over 130 countries around the world. In Brazil, it is estimated by MEC that over 750.000 public university students took the TOEFL exam in 2015, indicating that over 2 million individuals in Brazil have trained for the exam.
Present in over 67 countries, EduSynch’s mission is to democratize TOEFL® training in Brazil and eventually, the world. The company has just begun piloting its solution in Brazil with Fundação Estudar, Ismart, Britannia, Escola Suiço-Brasileira. They also have their eyes set on India, with one pilot already up and running, and another to start at the end of the month.
“Every student learns in a different way,” says Sean Kilachand, CEO and Founder of EduSynch, “So why should exam preparation be standardized? With EduSynch, students will not only be able to simulate the real exam experience and see their scores on each section of the exam, but through a sophisticated adaptive algorithm, they are able to focus on the skills they need to improve their score, and all for 10% of the price of typical TOEFL® prep.” Kilachand continued, “EduSynch also provides Reading and Listening practice absolutely free of charge. From a Brazilian standpoint, EduSynch is to the TOEFL® what Geekie is to the ENEM.”
While TOEFL® is the company’s primary focus, EduSynch plans to develop adaptive training applications for other English language proficiency exams in the future, including TOEIC®, IELTS, and Cambridge exams.
