Writing Skills: Parts of a Paragraph
Plants
have many parts and each part has different functions working together as a
system. A thorn is a protective
stem in a plant and thorns mainly protect the plant. Vascular plants have
xylem and phloem to carry materials; however, other plants do not. With no barks, the tree new phloem would be exposed and
could be destroyed. The tree would not produce more phloem quickly and could
die. Taproots are roots that grow straight down into the soil. Fibrous root system is a set of roots that grow out in all
directions. Longer roots help plants absorb more water, store more
food or nutrients, and anchor the plant into the ground. The small-modified leaves in plants are called sepals. A pistol is the female part of the flower and contain egg
cells. Stamen is the male part of the flower and produces pollen. All plants
must live long enough so they can grow, reproduce, and die.
